Through careful study of the forgetting rules of short-term memory and the theory on short-term memory capacity in memory psychology, the article comes to the conclusions that noting-taking is undoubtedly necessary in interpretation, especially in paragraph interpretation and that the memory unit in interpretation should be “sense groups” or “chunks” rather than single isolated words, specifically, it should be “sentence” in paragraph interpretation and in interpretation of long sentences it should be “the chunks” that constitute the subject, predicate, object, adverbial etc of a sentence.
