It elaborates that the book is based on the revised Syllabus for College English. It also explains, in consideration of the need of college students in China, that the book has incorporated some new features in the selection of contents and in its arrangement so as to develop and improve students' ability to use English more quickly, more confidently and with greater accuracy.
