20多年的改革开放使我国发生了翻天覆地的变化。这些变化包括政治、经济、文化、科技以及人们的思想观念等方方面面。所有这一切变化无不体现在人们日常使用的语言中,而语言的变化最直接又最迅速地表现为词汇的变化,也就是新词、新义和新用法的大量涌现。据说每年新增的汉语新词语的数量平均在700个左右1。由此便出现了大量记录这些词汇变化的汉语新词语词典。与此同时也出现了多种汉英新词语词典,例如在20世纪90年代后期出版的胡志勇的《最新汉英词语辞典》、刘希彦的《汉英新词新义词典》、欧阳因的《中国流行新词语》(以下简称《流行… | | |  推荐 CAJ下载  PDF下载 | | | CAJViewer7.0阅读器支持所有CNKI文件格式，AdobeReader仅支持PDF格式 | | | | On the Two Probrems in the Translation of Chinese New Words | | | GAO Yongwei(Dept.of Foreign Languages;Fudan University;Shanghai 200433;China) | | | Hundreds or even thousands of new words appear in the Chinese language along with the country's economic and social development. The translation of such words into English leaves much room for improvement, as attested by the translations in several ChineseEnglish dictionaries currently available. This paper addresses the two major problems in such translations. Much focus is placed on equivalent translation.
