| | | | | 翻译是创造,是技术也是艺术——从“桂林山水甲天下”英译获奖谈起 | | | 吴伟雄 | | | 本文从名句“桂林山水甲天下”的获奖译文谈到“翻译是创造,是技术也是艺术”。文章认为,翻译的创造性要求按翻译目的决定翻译策略,译出原文的语用真意;翻译的技术性和科学性要求译文客观求是和逻辑明确;翻译的艺术性要求译文讲究语言艺术,科技翻译也讲究艺术美。文章进而指出,翻译工作要不断追求高难度标准,以求不断提高译文质量。

1引言2005年,桂林市政府和中国翻译协会共同举办“桂林山水甲天下”向全球征集译文活动,要求译文优美,贴切,既能准确表达“桂林山水甲天下”涵义,又符合译语受众的欣赏习惯,易于传诵。笔者有幸因公四赴桂林,有感应征。同年11月,桂林市政府和中国译协在桂林联合举办名句译文研讨会后公布:经过近两个月的专家、学者严格评审,评出优秀奖2名、入围奖10名、鼓励奖20名[1]。笔者的三则译文,获得“连珠奖”:优秀奖第一名及入围奖和鼓励奖。据中新社报道,桂冠译文(East or west,Guilinlandscape is best)等英译文是中国译协常务副会长唐闻生“反复… | | |  推荐 CAJ下载  PDF下载 | | | CAJViewer7.0阅读器支持所有CNKI文件格式，AdobeReader仅支持PDF格式 | | | | Translation is an Invention,Technique and Art-From the prize-winning translation of "East or West,Guilin Landscape is Best" | | | WU Weixiong | | | Deriving from the prizewinning translation of the Chinese verse "East or West,Guilin landscape is best",this paper discusses translation as being an invention,technique as well as art.The paper states that to be creative,the translation should apply the purpose of translation to determine translation strategy in order to bring out the pragmatic meaning of the original text;the technological and scientific aspects of the translation require the translated text to be objective,genuine and logical;the artistic aspect of the translation requires the translated text to be fastidious about language arts,and so does translation of science and technology.The paper further depicts that translation work should always pursue high standard so as to enhance its quality.
