连绵词的来源主要有单音词扩展和双音词音变两种。由单音词变化而成主要包括两类:(1)音节缓读,也就是与反切相同的原理,一字析为上下二字,如“浑”变成“囫囵”,“角”变成“旮旯”。(2)音节延展,如《尔雅.释水》:“‘河水清且澜漪’,大波为澜,小波为沦,直波为径。”晋郭璞注: | | |

Lingding(零丁) would be Vo struture and it means losing people, but when used as a noun, it means the announcement for looking for the lost person. In fact, being lost is natural to be lonely. So when we regard Lingding(零丁) as an adjective, it represents being lonely Moreover, Ling(零) and Ding(丁) are dual-rhyme words in Chinese, so it became a stretch word and it has so many forms. Lingping(伶俜) is a sound varition of Lingding(伶仃), however, the meaning and the usage of them are completely consistent.
