“鱼,我所欲也,熊掌,亦我所欲也,二者不可得兼,舍鱼而取熊掌者也。”[1]孟子关于鱼和熊掌不可兼得只能有所取舍的观念一直广为传诵,并被后人借用,证明了这种两者无法兼顾的情境是宇宙间普遍的真理之一。无独有偶,十九世纪末的西方剧坛,“现代戏剧之父”易卜生(HenrikIbsen,1828-1906)的《建筑师》、1912年诺贝尔文学奖金获得者霍普特曼(GerhartHauptman,1862-1946)的《沉钟》,都表达了艺术家的爱情和事业不能兼得的悲剧。这两部戏剧都运用了象征主义的表现方法,表现了爱情和事业不能兼得的主题,表达了主人公对美好爱情和成功事业永不放弃… | | |  推荐 CAJ下载  PDF下载 | | | CAJViewer7.0阅读器支持所有CNKI文件格式，AdobeReader仅支持PDF格式 | | | | Etrnity in Losing——A Comparative study of Architect and the Sicked Bell | | | LIN Li-ying (School of Humanities;Fujian Normal University;Fuzhou 35007;China) | | | Both THE MASTER BUILDER written by Ibsen and THE SUNKEN BELL by Hauptman are the earlier works with symbolism in drama history depicting the tragedy caused by incompatibility of love and career in the artist’s life and revealing the theme that the constant pursuit of the art is everlasting despite the failure. This article analyses the similarity and difference in the constructure of conflicts, the significance of the theme and the portrait of the character in order to decode the unique aesthetic evaluation of symbolic drama.
