It plays an important role in assuring and promoting the quality of higher education. Although the content, the degree and the approach of the faculty's professional development are different among various countries, there are still some parts that are interlinked.This paper analyzes the approach and the function of faculty's professional development from four aspects: the scholarly research, the degree curriculum studies, the teaching practice and the international education exchanges.
