The idea of grammar teaching is changing as the idea of modern educational theory changes, and scho lars &experts have different ideas as to what role grammar teaching should play in college foreign language teaching,and some of them praise, some criticize, some ignore and some reject it. The establishment of correct idea and the analys is of grammar-teaching present situation in response to grammar-teaching chara cteristic can provide some ideas for improving college English grammar-teaching quality. In fact over-exaggerating grammar-teaching effect can lead to a hind rance to the cultivation of students' comprehensive foreign-language ability wh ereas looking down upon grammar teaching can exert a negative effect on the good exertion of students' foreign-language ability. Grammar teaching as a part of college foreign language teaching should be equally attached importance to.
