1 .引言许多国内外专家学者充分肯定了大量阅读对二语习得和外语学习的重要性。著名语言学家Krashen( 1 985)认为能否掌握第二语言的关键因素是接触大量可理解性的语言输入材料。与输入材料接触的途径主要有两条,一是听,二是读。Krashen( 1 989)明确指出,词汇和拼写的习得主要来自阅读。Harmer( 2 0 0 0 )认为好的阅读材料为学生提供范例,有利于他们提高写作能力;而且阅读提供了学习词汇、语法、遣词造句等的机会,促进了语言习得。国内语言学家赵世开(中国社会科学院语言研究所) ( 2 0 0 2 )认为,“学习母语时,口语是第一性的,在非目的语… | | |  推荐 CAJ下载  PDF下载 | | | CAJViewer7.0阅读器支持所有CNKI文件格式，AdobeReader仅支持PDF格式 | | | | A survey of English reading outside class among non-English majors at Tsinghua University | | | Li Ruifang et al. | | | There is a consensus among many experts and scholars in China and abroad that a large amount of English reading outside class is conducive to the improvement of English proficiency. This paper attempts to find out whether students of science and engineering share this opinion, how much time they spend in reading English after class, what problems they encounter when reading other materials than textbooks, what strategies they usually use, and whether they have the same answers as students of the humanities in Nanjing University. This papers reports a survey of 125 non English majors in Tsinghua University and presents the results in the relevant areas.
