It is the aim of this paper to offer a focused analysis of the metaphorical significance of the café as the novella's setting and the characterization of Cousin Lymon from the Bakhtinian perspective of carnivalization. The effort to reconstruct the birth and death of a“Carnivalesque Utopia”in this work reveals a subversive sub-text that opposes the mainstream ideology and value system of the Southern American society. 【Keyword】:The Ballad of the Sad Café;Carson McCullers;Bakhtinian;carnivalization |
