However, the application of the approach is far from being satisfactory. In light of the research and teaching practices, this paper attempts to review and appraise the "Cultural Induction" approach to emphasize the indivisible relationship between language teaching and cultural instruction, and to formulate a whole set of hypotheses including basic teaching of language and culture - cultivation of intercultural awareness - development of intercultural communication competence.
