First, they have urged researchers to turn their attention from equivalence between the source text and the target text to the translator. Second, they have established a new dynamic mode for translation criticism. The functionalist theories are applicable not only to the criticism of technological translations, but also to that of literary works. The criticism of the novel translations in the Late Qing Dynasty is clear proof of this.
