"Destiny" transforms all the beings in the universe and lives with them; mankind is the cleverest of all and conscious of its mission in the universe. Confucianism ascribes the existence of all things in the universe to the mysterious life-force of the universe, stressing that the life value is to demonstrate this life-force. Since Confucianism was established in a family-based society, its understanding of the universe is inevitably marked with the distinctive empirical imprint of family ethics and monarchic societies.
