翻译是一种典型的跨文化交际 ,它不仅仅涉及了语言符号的转换 ,而且涉及文化的转换 ,因为语言和文化是密切不可分的。正如英国语言学家莱昂斯·约翰所说 ,“特定的社会的语言是这个社会文化的组成部分 ,每一种语言在词语上的差异都会反映使用这种语言的社会的事物、习俗以及各种活动在文化方面的重要特征”[1] (p32 8) 。语言是文化的一部分 ,但语言象一面镜子反映着民族的全部文化 ,又象一个窗口揭示着该文化的一切内容。因此 ,对于一个从事翻译工作 ,充当交流媒介的人来说 ,不仅必须具有本族语和外语的功底 ,并且要有较广的知识面 ;不仅要… | | |  推荐 CAJ下载  PDF下载 | | | CAJViewer7.0阅读器支持所有CNKI文件格式，AdobeReader仅支持PDF格式 | | | | On the Translation of Culture-loaded Phrases in The Story of The Stone and A Dream of Red Mansions | | | XIAO Fei (Department of Foreign Languages;Jinang University;Guangzhou 510632;China) | | | This article, based on the comparison of two English editions: The Story of the Stone and A Dream of Red Mansions, explores the strength and weakness in the different ways of the two translators in rendering into English the highly culturally-loaded phrases in both versions. It also gives its personal point of view on the principles that translators of Chinese literary works should bear in mind.
