Words formed with prefixes relating to numbers amount to a great number in English. They are mainly from Latin and Greek. Words formed with Latin and Greek prefixes relating to numbers are widely used in politics, economy, culture, education, science and technology, language and literature, news media, animal and plants, medical science, religous belief and so on, especially in technical terms. With the rapid development of the world's politics and economy, science and technology, education and culture and so on, the function of English as a culture carrier and a tool of communication will become more and more important. So it is quite necessary to probe into the origin, word formation and the applicability of the continuously produced new words with prefixes relating to numbers.
