From the Guodian Texts, we know that the doctrine was an important thought of Pre-Qin Confucianism. The relationship between Benevolence and Justice of Pre-Qin Confucianism was a process of separation-combination-separation. The doctrine stemmed from Confucian. After Zisi's development, the separation of Benevolence and Justice, which rooted in Mencius's thought, disappeared.
