Lawrence's idea that "Novel is the book of life"can basically summarize his conception of novel. His novels are, on one hand, closely related to the traditional literary theory( mainly realism theory ), and on the other hand, have the anti-tradition aspect of modernism, especially his idea that sexual love is the only way to help human being get his rebirth is quite controversial.
