The ancient consonant ‘xia’ has developed into the semi vowel or , or into the consonant or , while ‘yu’ into the semi vowel or , or the consonaut only. These changes are connected with the breath when the sounds are pronounced. If the breath is strong, ‘xia’ will be pronounced as or , while ‘yu’, only. When the breath is weak and affected by the vowel or , both of them will be pronounced as or .
